Received a couple of new JF REYs in this morning. Wonderful colours and a stunning frame design as we have come to expect from JF Rey. One of the frames is in a dual colour with a mat gold on the inside and a metallic dark grey on the outside. The other is uni coloured in a rich metallic dark green. I tried to do them both justice with these photos, but have failed miserably. Maybe it’s time to upgrade my Panasonic TZ15 to something more suitable for taking product shots? ... read more

We are getting really excited about the upcoming weekend and can’t wait to meet all of you at Womens Lifestyle Expo 2010 in Trafalgar Center. It is the first time for us to exhibit some of our gems outside the store and we make sure that you will have a great time at our stand. To celebrate, you can enter a competition to win a frame of your choice from our current collection. And the best thing is – price doesn’t matter! If you choose the most expensive one we have – so be it! We don’t mind. We are there to make sure that you have a great time and the competition will be just a small part of it. In September I headed for Christchurch, this years venue for the anual conference for Dispensing Opticians of New Zealand (ADONZ). Poor Reiner, he had to stay put and mind the practice for 3 days by himself, but then again, he loves doing that. Anyway, the aim of the conference is to provide opportunity for continued education for Dispensing Opticians. The topics help us to stay in touch with the latest technologies, techniques and products available. Especially the developments in modern lens technology and associated fitting techniques are areas that we have a special interest in. To stay up to date is simply a never ending journey, or to put it some famous words “I am learning all the time.  The tombstone will be my diploma”  – (Eartha Kitt, a seducer of audiences). ... read more

The short answer is: we all wear spectacles by a small Danish company called Lindberg. You want to know why? Is it because they have a fancy label on the side that is “in”, “trendy” or whatever? Is it because they are so expensive that only the rich and famous can afford them? The answer to all those questions is no. It’s because with only 1.9 grams in weight, the frames would have to be the lightest and most comfortable frames one could wear. ... read more

However, when Reiner and I first opened “Claudia K Opticians” on High Street here in Motueka back in April, we completely underestimated the need for additional optometric services in Motueka. For that reason, we now have a dedicated eye testing room fitted with modern eye testing equipment and have contracted two independent optometrists, who share our passion and will provide optometric services on a periodic basis. ... read more
