OK, I guess one could say that I’ve been raving enough about the MYKITA frames from Berlin. But then again, that was mainly about the “Collection No. 1″ models, which are all made from stainless steel and are made without any welds or screws. Just recently we have received the first set of the “Collection No. 2″ models! This collection expands the MYKITA range to include Cellulose Acetate frames.
The problem is that production at the Berlin studio is still at rather low speed, so we were extremely happy to receive at least some styles of the new collection. The “Otto” is a masculine rectangular frame with thick temples and an original style concept, truly a fantastic frame.
In the female collection, the “Claire” stands out. It is a little bit retro and a little bit bold, but without being over the top – pure MYKITA philosophy and style. The frame is also made from high quality acetate, has a shiny finish and, like all the Collection No 2 frames, features a unique stainless steel tension-based hinge design that functions without screws. We have it in the shop in a dark burgundy – real classy.
And then of course there is the “Walter”, a stunning frame with a larger lens size. We have it in warm grey, a nice colour as an alternative to your standard black. The sides are nice and wide. Together with the unique double tension hinge, this frame is definitely made to last. Truely retro and truely hip. The “Walter” is featuring in several music videos. Here is one by the German band “Fettes Brot” called “Bettina”:
