Pierced GlassesI am always on the lookout for innovative ideas in eyewear. It certainly is amazing what you come across at times, in particular the reasoning behind some of the more radical ideas. One such idea comes from James Sooy who was considering refractive surgery but found it too expensive. James developed a new pair of eyeglasses that mounts into the bridge of your nose, via piercing. The reasoning behind it? “Paying … to have someone cut your eyes and shoot a laser in them (just so you don’t have to wear glasses) seems extreme to me…” (James Sooy in an interview summing up the rationale behind his design).

Umm, ok. I can see the point. In fact I can probably see some other benefits as well:

  • If you are into piercing, with would be a cool addition to your collection (how about some cool shades attached to the bridge?)
  • They would be the answer to your prayers if you have constantly slipping glasses.
  • No more glasses hanging on cords and dangling around your neck.
  • The ultimate rimless design with no temples even.
  • “flip-up” version available.
  • lenses are held by way of magnets, so changing to sunglasses and vice versa is a breeze.

and ………

there are probably many more reasons why someone would like the idea. Who knows, they may even catch on and become the next “must have” gadget. In any case, you should check out James Sooy’s “Pierced Glasses” website.

Ah, just one more thing in case you want some – we don’t stock them and since I have a tendency to faint when I see blood, I don’t think we will get them either ;)
