Things are slowly progressing. After deciding way back in September last year that it was time for us to get back into business, we’ve been working really hard to make our dream a reality. The first steps seemed easy. We found premises in Motueka, right next to the new Vodafone store. The rooms are small and cozy, exactly the right size for what we want to do.

So we set out to find someone who could help us put our ideas for shop design etc. on paper. We were lucky enough to meet Cherylyn Christieson, a very talented Interior Designer. Plans were soon ready and the next challenge was to find a shopfitter and/or joinery who could put all that together for us. Deciding to stay local if possible, we approached several shopfitter and joiners in the Nelson/Motueka area.

And then, a couple of problems appeared simultaneously. First we were hoping for a late December start, but because of some structural issues with the building this had to be deferred until later (when, we didn’t know). Second, it was a real challenge deciding what shopfitter/joiner to go with. All were very busy and most did not want to commit to our time frame. Eventuall it was Motueka Joinery who we decided to take as a partner.

Meanwhile. work inside, what used to be a gaming hall, had begun. We required the removal of existing partitions and ceiling, new partitions, new ceilings etc.. A lot of work indeed, but local builder Greg Wemyss and his team have been very helpful indeed. Same with the Laser Electrical (also a local company). They’ve done a great job getting the electrical wiring done in time for the carpet and furniture to come this and next week. It’s great seeing everything coming together at last.

Peter Laufkoetter from Signcraft has provided us with outside and inside signage. Thanks Peter, great job!

So, that’s it for now. Tomorrow the carpet is going down and hopefully the furniture won’t be far away either. We’ll keep you posted. Will try to get some photos up for everyone to see soon.
