Drivewear - Outside Extreme Light Probably the only complaint we receive about Transitions lenses is that many people feel they don’t go dark enough behind a windscreen to give good glare protection. Unfortunately this is true, simply because Transitions lenses on their own require ultra violet light to react and  to go dark. The problem is that behind the windscreen of a car, there just isn’t enough ultra violet light available for them to go dark to their full extend. Now, unless you are driving a concertible with the roof folded, you would have experienced exactly that. So what is the solution to this?

For people who are doing a lot of driving in various conditions, the best solution now comes in the shape of “Drivewear” lenses. These lenses are manufactured by a company called YOUNGER Optics. YOUNGER is well know for their Polarised prescription lens technology. Their new “Drivewear” lenses combine the benefts of their polaroid technology with the proven performance of the Transitions technology and additional high contrast filters.

This combination allows for lenses that not only react to different weather and light conditions from overcast to bright sunlight using visible and ultra violet light. Since Drivewear lenses include a highly efficient Polariser, they efficiently block blinding glare. We can now provide you with drivewear lenses in single vision as well as Younger’s own “Image” progressive lens (for those of us wearing progressive lenses and not wanting to do without them).

We have a sample of these lenses in the shop and would be happy to demonstrate what Drivewear lenses can do for you, or, if you are interested in reading further about Drivewear lenses you can follow this link to
